CONTEMPORARY ASIAN ART RETURNS TO LONDON FOR 2025 at SAATCHI

FOCUS Art Fair returns to London this October for its 4th UK edition and 11th global edition, continuing its mission to connect Asian and contemporary artists with international audiences across Europe, North America, and the Middle East. As the only international art fair dedicated to this unique cultural bridge, FOCUS presents a vibrant, forward-thinking platform where tradition meets innovation, and East meets West, offering a truly global perspective on contemporary Asian art.

Founded in 2019 under the direction of Sungmin Hong and Jungwon Lee, FOCUS is an international art fair with editions across Europe and the USA, providing a platform for contemporary Asian art. Since its inception, FOCUS has hosted over 45 overseas exhibitions and international art fairs, spotlighting the voices of established names, leading contemporary artists, galleries, and emerging talent in some of the world’s most prestigious art spaces. From Paris, London, and Porto to New York, the fair continues to serve as a catalyst for redefining the global Asian art market by pushing the boundaries of contemporary Asian art internationally.

The 2025 edition of FOCUS Art Fair London will take place at Saatchi Gallery from 16–19 October, offering both seasoned and aspiring collectors a diverse presentation of modern and contemporary art. The fair will showcase world-class Asian artists alongside emerging talent, established and new galleries, and visions of art’s future.

The London edition of FOCUS Contemporary Art Fair marks the beginning of a global series dedicated to showcasing various themes of Asian art, highlighting the rich spectrum and potential of contemporary art from the region. The fair provides a European platform for Asian contemporary art, exploring its current trends and future possibilities. Visitors will encounter a wide range of cultural perspectives and experimental approaches, gaining firsthand insight into Asia’s contemporary sensibilities and creative energy while broadening their own visual horizons.

Boram Lee, Deputy Director at FOCUS Art Fairs, said, “FOCUS believes that now is the perfect moment to establish a new contemporary Asian art fair within the London art market. The fair aims to engage not only the city’s vibrant Asian diaspora in art, but also a broader audience, encompassing local visitors, collectors, and cultural institutions. By combining exceptional artworks with targeted programming and community engagement, FOCUS strives to establish the fair as an unmissable cultural event in London’s art scene.”

Since 2019, FOCUS Art Fair has welcomed over 100,000 visitors and achieved sales exceeding £10 million.

2025 GALLERIES AND ARTISTS

FOCUS Art Fair London’s specialisation in contemporary Asian art remains strongly represented in the 2025 edition through the participation of over 30 leading galleries including One East Asia, Singapore; Gallery Art Positive, New Delhi; SH Gallery, Tokyo; Artas Gallery, Petaling Jaya; Teravarna Art Gallery, Los Angeles; Hanmi Gallery, London, Seoul; Sobasuta Gallery, Tokyo; Hongik Art, Seoul; Jay Chung Gallery, New York.

Highlighted artists for 2025 include two distinguished Korean artists: Meekyoung Shin and Jaejun Lee. FOCUS will showcase Meekyoung Shin’s reinterpretations of 16th–20th century Chinese porcelain and Buddha figures made from soap, alongside Jaejun Lee’s porcelain works, which combine innovative forms and glazing with traditional techniques. Both Shin and Lee represent a unique interplay between tradition and contemporary practice, that is both rooted in cultural heritage and boldly forward-looking. Shin’s bold pieces challenge conventional notions of material and history, using soap to evoke impermanence and cultural transience, while Lee’s work quietly explores the dialogue between life and thought through repetition, change, and the passage of time.

Also highlighted for the 2025 fair is a group exhibition presented by the Philippines Centre for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) bringing together nine contemporary Filipino artists, each exploring unique approaches to form, material, and perception led by Luis E. Yee Jr. (aka JUNYEE).  Junyee is a pioneer of installation and environmental art in the Philippines, creating immersive works that engage both space and audience, while Pong Bayog produces hauntingly detailed figurative pieces that examine the human form. The nine artists collectively showcase the wide spectrum of Filipino contemporary art, ranging from immersive installations and figurative explorations to textile innovations and perceptual experiments, fostering a compelling dialogue on materiality, narrative, and the boundaries of artistic expression. The group exhibition includes the artists Luis E. Yee Jr. (aka JUNYEE), Gus Albor, Demi Padua, Florante Bayog Paghari-on (aka PONG BAYOG), Marrie Saplad, Raffy Napay, Dino Gabito, Russel Trinidad (aka DOKTOR KARAYOM) and Anna Bautista

WhileJapanese artist and pop star from boy band Kis-My-Ft2, Kento Senga will present a series of sculptures and paintings that highlight his distinctive approach, known as ‘FiNGAiSM’. This style emphasizes the artist’s direct physical engagement with materials, where each mark, gesture, and texture conveys the immediacy of the hand. Through FiNGAiSM, Senga explores the expressive potential of touch, blurring the boundaries between painting and sculpture and inviting viewers to experience the intimate presence of the artist in every work.

Also featured in this year’s fair, Yi Crafts is a studio dedicated to the handcrafts and cuisine of China’s minority ethnicities, focusing on preserving and celebrating traditional practices that are both beautiful and increasingly rare. By showcasing the unique customs and traditions of the Bai ethnic minority, Yi Crafts fosters understanding of cultural commonalities and differences, while highlighting shared histories. Their work adds an essential dimension to the fair, bridging visual art and tangible cultural practices, and offering visitors a deeper appreciation of Asia’s rich and multifaceted creative landscape.

PARTNERSHIPS

2025 FOCUS London Art Fair Partners will include LG Corporation, the South Korean electronics giant, and Cassina, an Italian high-end furniture company, known for its innovative design collaborations and iconic modern classics, alongside The Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Diptyque and the Philippines Centre for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM).

With equality as one of our central pillars, we cannot wait to spotlight the voices of our global partners One East Asia and Asian Society who aim to make art accessible to all — irrespective of race, gender, and class.

Adventuring with Elizabeth Jenkins

When I heard of Elizabeth Jenkins I thought, “Yeah just one more of those inspirational women.” Once I looked into it I realised she was completely in a league of her own! With quitting her Phd. and trekking through the treacherous Andean mountains to meet one of the rarest spiritual teachers of South America and becoming a world renewed spiritual teacher herself, to also becoming an organic farmer, famous writer, mother and successful business woman, Elizabeth is definitely one of a kind. I could not help  but read all of her books in one breath and interview her, immediately! Continue reading

8 Reasons to Keep Your Coffee Addiction in Check

I am Italian and I love coffee! I love its aroma in the morning especially if it comes from a Moka, a traditional  Italian cafetière as it brings back so many sweet memories. Italians like their coffee strong, in a warm espresso cup and more than often drink it while standing. I find coffee extremely addictive so I keep it as a treat for the weekend. With an espresso in me I can go at 100 miles per hour and feel nicely wired, but when I take more or drink it daily for a few weeks I know I will have to pay for it … Continue reading

Yet again I strike gold in my search for interesting women to interview. With her background in the military, academia, and Peruvian spirituality Joan Parisi Wilcox is an exciting cocktail of the intellectual, socially ground breaking and deeply mystical. She is answering my questions in another of my interviews portraying daring, adventurous and awe-inspiring women.

I had a chat with the Hairdresser of the Year !

It was one of those days. I felt tired, overwhelmed with work, in a bit of a bad mood and really did not want to go out and socialise. I however had been invited for a chat with the London Hairdresser of The Year (2018-2019) and well, obviously could not chicken out of that! As I walked into the Windsor salon I really had no expectations. It was yet another interview and I did not know what to expect.  Continue reading

Wise Words of Gurmukh, the amazing Kundalini Yoga teacher

In December last year I was very fortunate to be taught Kundalini Yoga by Gurmukh, one of the leading Kundalini teachers in the World today. I went to her course right here in the UK, in London. Amazingly, at seventy seven she is still writing, travelling the world and teaching. She is coming back to London this Autumn and I am looking forward to sharing her words with you.

I am prone to great changes and very much used to powerful experiences but even so was still not prepared for what took place after being on the course for a mere three days. As with every true and authentic experience and with the power of continuous practice, the months that followed turbo charged me and my life beyond my wildest expectations. The intense presence of beauty, the guidance from the unseen and the sense of finding a way to myself with incredible speed was overwhelming. However, I still had questions. I felt there was so much more. I knew Gurmukh would be coming back to the UK and I asked her if she would give me an interview. When she agreed, I was not sure at first what I should ask her, I just knew I had to do it. Continue reading
